Trincomalee and Nilaveli are gateways to Pigeon Island National Park, reached by boat from Nilaveli Beach. It has two islands, with a reef around the larger one. Sri Lanka Tourism records 100+ coral and 300 reef-fish species here; turtles and blacktip reef sharks are also reported in shallow water. Sightings are not guaranteed.

One operator’s 2026 foreign-visitor shared-tour prices (about 3 hours): 8:30 AM €48/adult; 1:00 PM €50/adult; ages 6–11 €28; under 5 €5. Park entry, return boat, mask/snorkel/fins, life jacket, water and fees/taxes are included. Food, hotel transfer and an in-water guide cost extra. Sri Lankan/SAARC rates differ.
