Bentota is a southwest-coast beach town; Madu Ganga is accessed near Balapitiya, about 15 km north. Ramsar Site 1372 since 2003, it has 64 mangrove-covered islets in an estuary where river and sea meet. Boats follow channels past island communities. These are separate places; arrange a transfer between them.
