Uppuveli is closer to Trincomalee; Nilaveli is a separate coastal area north of the city and a base for making your own plans around the beach and boat trips. If you want to visit Fort Frederick, temples, the market, harbour or city services, allow for the journey into the centre. If your priority is time by the water, check whether a particular address suits swimming, walks and the transport you will need each day.
