Sri Lanka Events
A city concert, a party by the sea or a daytime gathering: planning your time in Sri Lanka can start with an event. Anilau's island-wide events guide brings together published listings so you can explore different locations, compare programmes and decide what is worth a change of route. It suits short visits as well as longer stays when you want a fresh reason to head out.
Where to look for events
If you have already chosen an area, start with its local events guide. Each has a selection of listings and practical advice about attending:
- Colombo Events covers concerts, theatre, exhibitions, festivals and markets in the city and suburbs of Colombo District, including Kotte and Mount Lavinia.
- Hikkaduwa Events focuses on parties, music nights and coastal gatherings; compare the programme, location and entry conditions before choosing.
- Unawatuna Events explores beach and club events, live music and daytime meetups. Here it is especially useful to distinguish a regular venue visit from a ticketed event.
The island-wide selection extends beyond these three destinations. Events published for other parts of Sri Lanka can also be found in the full listings.
Choose a programme that fits your plans
Start with the format: dancing, listening to a performance, meeting people or spending time with family. Then look at the location and duration. A short meetup near your accommodation is easier to fit into the day; a major concert in another city needs planning for transport and the return journey. Distance on a map alone is not enough to assess the whole trip.
Check the date, start and finish times, precise address and programme language. A translated listing does not mean the performance will be in that language. Confirm the next date of a recurring event, and ask outdoor venues about their rain plan. If you are bringing children, check age restrictions separately.
Tickets, registration and current listings
Find out whether advance registration is required and what the price includes. Admission, a table reservation, food or pool access may be charged separately. If the announcement leaves a question unanswered, contact the organiser before booking transport.
The selection below this article updates as listings change. Open a card for details and contact information; the link above the selection leads to the full events catalogue, where you can choose a location. Check dates, prices and participation conditions in the specific listing before travelling.
