Arugam Bay is a surf town on Sri Lanka’s east coast, with a long sandy shore and several breaks. Nearby Pottuvil offers fishing-village life, seafood and quieter stretches of coast.
Sri Lanka Tourism lists April–October as the surf season. Regional breaks include Arugam Point, Crocodile Rock, Peanut Farm and Pottuvil Point. Waves vary by day; some are too strong for beginners. Island Surf School at Pottuvil Point lists 90-minute lessons: beginner LKR 7,000 and intermediate LKR 8,000, both with board rental; longboard LKR 10,000 (the page does not specify board rental).
