Sacred City of Kandy and Temple of the Tooth
Visit Sri Dalada Maligawa, a living Buddhist shrine within UNESCO-listed Kandy. Open daily 05:30–20:00. The official FAQ lists foreign visitor tickets at LKR 2,500 for SAARC countries, Thailand and Myanmar, and LKR 3,000 for other countries.

Sri Dalada Maligawa, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, is a major Buddhist place of worship and part of the UNESCO-listed Sacred City of Kandy. Set between Kandy Lake and the former royal palace, the complex reflects Kandyan architecture. The temple is open daily 05:30–20:00. Daily Thewawa services are held 05:30–07:00, 09:30–11:00 and 18:30–20:00.
The temple’s official FAQ lists foreign visitor fees of LKR 2,500 for visitors from SAARC countries, Thailand and Myanmar, and LKR 3,000 for visitors from other countries. The ticket includes the temple, Dalada Museum, World Buddhist Museum, Tusker Museum and Royal Elephant Stable. Confirm the current fee on the official site before visiting.
Dress respectfully: shorts, sleeveless and revealing clothing are not permitted. Footwear, bulky luggage and non-essential items must be left at the reception booths; visitors and belongings are screened. Polythene/plastic items and pets are prohibited.
