At about 2,100 m in Sri Lanka’s Central Highlands, Horton Plains protects over 3,169 ha of grassland and cloud forest. The marked 9 km loop from the visitor centre takes about three hours and passes Baker’s Falls and World’s End.
Go early: Sri Lanka Tourism says mist often hides the view later in the morning, especially in the rainy season. Visitor guidance lists 06:00–18:00 opening and 15:00 last entry; confirm access and trail conditions. Mornings are cold and weather changes quickly—wear layers and sturdy shoes.
Reserve through DWC ePermit; capacity is limited, group and vehicle details are required, and show the paid permit/QR receipt at the entrance. Charges vary by park, group and vehicle; online payment has a fee. A 2026 guide reports international adult USD 25, child USD 12, service USD 8; local adult LKR 150, child LKR 75, student LKR 20; vehicle LKR 250–1,000. Taxes may apply.
