Dr Kalyani Madhura Ramachandran leads a workshop on writing about sculpture. The session treats sculpture as something made and explores ways to describe its form, processes and materials, including the dialogue between maker and material.
Participants will consider sculpture in texts by Giorgio Vasari, Stella Kramrisch and John Berger, then reflect on sculptors including Auguste Rodin and Barbara Hepworth. The workshop concludes with a written description of works by Constantin Brâncuși, Ramkinker Baij, Elizabeth Catlett and others. It is open to students, artists and enthusiasts from all backgrounds.
